While aware of the pitfalls of trying to assign wagtails to their sub-specific geographic races, I have made an attempt. Further, I have made a probably ill-advised leap of assigning half a dozen of the images to ‘Putative Eastern Yellow Wagtail’ in order to encourage debate about the provenance of Qatar’s wagtails. I suspect the black-lored birds in fact represent a cline towards Eastern Yellow Wagtail senso stricto.
